Question Of The Day
Many of you must have known about this reality TV show " 16 and pregnant"
Here goes the question of the day:
Do you think 16 and pregnant reality TV show should get banned?
Anonymous sent in her answer and she said " Yes. It's supposed to show how hard it is to have a baby at 16 but the only message it sends is that if you get knocked up when you aren't close to ready for it, you might get your own TV show. Call me old fashioned but when a child has a child, she should not be rewarded with fame and fortune".
So tell us what you have to say!

MTV is using people's children to make money, and young girls are busy ruining their lives in other to get pregnant and appear on reality TV show. It should be banned.
In a way I think the show sends wrong messages.

MTV's "16 and Pregnant" isn't really reality. Yeah, it shows teenagers who are pregnant, but that's basically it. In fact, I saw on "People" magazine one of the girls holding their babies while smiling and wearing stunning dresses. So this goes to show you that "reality" shows aren't really reality at all. These girls are rich. In the real world, you wouldn't be walking down the red carpet in a $6,000 dollar dress with a baby. You wouldn't be on the cover of an extremely popular magazine. You wouldn't have your own TV show, therefore you wouldn't get all that money to help take care of your child. In reality, this is what would REALLY happen: You'd become pregnant, your parents would be so angry at you for making such a stupid mistake, you'd go through an awful birth, you wouldn't be able to do anything or go anywhere because you have a baby now, you wouldn't have tons of money to buy fabulous clothes for you and your child, you wouldn't be on the cover of a magazine, you would have no one to help you take care of the baby besides your parents, you'd gain a ton of weight and wouldn't be able to fit into Aeropostale clothing anymore!! That's the truth and this show does not show this. It's too glamorous............
more confirmation that I am not missing a thing by not watching TV...MTV is blocked in our house anyway.
Hello, I stumbled across your blog on I think blogaholicnetwork.com. This is of course a touchy subject. I am guilty of watching the show and teen mom also. I do think they don't portray the hardships of parenting at such a young age as much as they should. They do show the hardships a few times but it does glorify teen pregnancy. I had my daughter at a young age and it was by no means easy, I was at least of legal age, they don't realize you have to grow up fast in order to provide for your child in the best way possible. Great post, I am curious to see other peoples responses!
God help our children, and i hope my girls won't watch such stupid MTV show. It should be banned immediately, it has nothing positive to teach. Hope mothers and people out there will help and shut it down. I guess MTV belongs to Illuminati so we can't do anything for now:-(
Not sure what show is that but we dont have it here in my country. But I think it's no point doing a show about 16 and preg with purpose that say to deter teens from getting preg. Most would just ignore it and for some, they might think it's a short cut to fame and fortune. Those who disagree can call me heartless but I feel that there really might be some people who will do that.
Thanks, May for dropping by my blog. Ya, I have been unwell for the past week hence too some time off blogging. Now feeling much better. Hope health will continue to improve :)
May you have a great week ahead :)
I've never seen the show because I don't watch MTV (remember when that channel was about music?).
Yes, MTV is making money off of these kids, but one truth remains clear: The 16 year olds have the rest of their lives with the kids they have. No amount of money or exposure to their condition can change that.
Great topic May!
I don't like any reality show, since there is very little reality in them.

I don't watch much TV and when I do, it's rarely "reality" tv. From the responses I have already seen, it doesn't sound like they are portraying much reality on the show.
If they showed the hardships that a teen mother is faced with, then maybe that's one thing. If all they do is glorify teen pregnancy, then I would say it should be banned.
I do remember when MTV had music! That was a long time ago.

I'm one of those rare TV viewers that avoids reality shows unless they're talent related. The ones I've seen make me cringe. Too much bad behavior, cruelty and exploitation for me to endure. By the way, great blog May! I just became a follower.
