Who Is In Charge? You Or Your Kids??

Rodemeyer, a 14-year-old gay male from Buffalo, made an “It Gets Better” YouTube video earlier this summer to urge outcasts and the bullied to keep going and brush off the mean kids.
“Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 yrs old, took his life because of bullying. May your soul R.I.P Rodemeyer.
The death of  Rodemeyer generated so many hot arguments or should i say conflicts between parents. And below are  some few comments made by parents about Rodemeyer's case.

* Gay at 14yrs old?

*  These kids ( bullies) have no parental discipline at home. And the parents refuse to believe that their precious child would ever do anything like that until it's too late and the bullied either kill themselves or kill their tormentors.

When are parents going to stop letting kids run the household and start taking charge?

* Jamey Rodemeyer chose a permanent solution to a short term problem, it was his choice to respond to idiots by ending his own life.

*When a bully child bullies, arrest the bully kids parents for contributing to the delinquency of a child.

* Gay or not, you should have enough confidence in who you are as a person to stand up for yourself.

* What does this country expect? If you spank your child in public someone calls the cops. Teachers can't discipline the kids because of new laws.

* We can't just blame the parents here for the way their children treat others. This is a problem of society. The victim of this suicide was a gay teenager, a popular target for bullies. Gay teens are 4 times more likely to commit suicide than other teenagers.

My Thoughts:
What you read above is just few things parents stated in a forum about the death of Rodemeyer. So do you think they are right on some of the statements mentioned above? What was your reaction when you heard the news?
Last month a friend was telling me that his son was facing same problems in his new school, bullies don't want to let him be. To the extent the boy told his mother he wants to stop going to school. The mother realized that it has gone so far, so she stepped into the case. Can you believe what they school authorities told her when she reported the case to them? They told her that her son is lying, saying "bullying don't exist and will never exist in their  school. The boy (victim) came open and told the school authorities that they older boys bully him daily in school. So the mother of the head of bullies was invited to the school for a short meeting, and she was allowed to make a speech in front of everyone involved, and she said " IF MY SON BEATS YOU UP; BEAT HIM UP TOO AND STOP MAKING CASE OVER NOTHING". I was not expecting to hear anything like that when my friend was narrating the story to me. But the sad news was that, the victims mother later changed her son's school after so much stress of finding a new school. Now she got her peace of mind back. If you find yourself in same situation, would you handle it same way the victims mother did?

Traveling With Kids - There Is No Fun Like It!

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine
Many people begin to limit their travel once they start having kids. Many think about the stress the kids will encounter, more especially on long trips. Apart from that, many put into consideration what if the child gets sick in the middle of the trip?. Sometimes people think traveling with kids would affect the main reason of the trip, which is relaxation. However traveling with kids can be interesting and there is no fun like it.  It makes the kids more flexible and  good communicators. You have to be ready always to answer questions from them, because they  are eager to learn what is happening around them.  My children are so fortunate to be much more traveled than i was at their age. My first son went on his first plane trip at 10 months.. My second son also had that great opportunity to travel at a very early age.. We've traveled by plane, car, train and ferry. Most importantly my children have been exposed to different cultures, ate many traditional foods  prepared by people of different cultures  and also learned important travel etiquette... ( Don't be too loud in public; Don't kick the plane seat in front of you and so on). I always have this thoughts in my mind for my kids: " What travel experiences will change their lives in the future? What discoveries will they make? What adventures will they wish to have?
Everything that comes with traveling is stressful but it worths it. Is a great new experience which i will love you try if you haven't and you won't regret it. There are some benefits you get while traveling with kids other travelers don't.
You form so much positive connections in so many ways when you are on a trip with the kids. You meet a lot of people who open up to you about their life, children and things that inspires them. These are people you wouldn't have spoken with if you where all by yourself. Sometimes traveling with the kids brings you closer to respectable families. Many treat you gently mere seeing the kids you are with and so much more.
Start early, don't wait for the kids to grow much older before you start making trips with them. Help them discover the beautiful things in life.

Things you shouldn't do in front of your kids.

Raising kids is not  easy and will never be. That is why you have to be careful on the type of things you say or do in the presence of your kids. Because kids are like sponges, the sap out everything happening around them. You have to behave like a queen before you raise princes and princesses.
There are so many things you shouldn't do in front of your kids, but i will be listing few below that can help:

    1.  Don't fight: In many relationships and marriages, disagreement will always be there. Fighting your way out in front of the kids will give them negative impression that getting physical is the best way to solve an argument.

    2. Don't Lie: Don't you ever lie in front of your kids in any situation you find yourself. Because when they see you lie, they automatically learn how to lie. That is when you start having bad relationship with your kids.

    3. Don't Steal: I know is hard to believe that some parents steal. Yes some do for whatever reasons. Please stop stealing in front of kids, because if you continue, they believe that asking is not the best way to get what they want.

    4. Parental Negative Influence:  Do not ask a child who he/she wants to see or not to see in his /her birthday party. A child can tell you who he/she wants to see but please never ask a child who he/she doesn't want to see. Many parents do this and i wonder why. If there are people you don't want to see kindly make the decision by yourself.

    5. Don't Litter: Always make sure you dispose things in the appropriate places. Do not throw things out from the window of your car. Do not litter the street simply because you are far from the waste bin. If you continue in this way, you will have a hard time teaching them how to keep their environment clean.

    6. Don't Speak Badly About Others:  Don't let your kids hear you speak badly about people no matter how hurt you are. You can do that in their absence if the need be.  Do not tell the kids not to greet your next door neighbour due to some slight differences. Don't tell them negative things about their dad,  simply because of some misunderstandings and the anger in you. If you do so, they will grow up hating you too.

    7. Don't Expose Them To Adult Content: Don't expose the kids to adult activities. You have to be mindful when it comes to  the type of movies/ programs you watch in front of the kids.

    8.  Keep to your words: Don't promise the child what you know that you can't afford or buy for him/her. You know sometimes the kids can get at you in a public,  and the only thing that pops out of your mind that very moment  is making a promise to buy the best chocolate or ice-cream so that they child can stop crying. The best way in this situation is to allow him/ her to cry or take him/her out of the environment , other than promising to buy something to end the situation. How long will you continue the buying? And how long will you continue the promise? In that way a child learns not to keep to his words in the future.

    9.  Simple Courtesy Rules: When you walk into an environment/ any gathering, try as mush as possible to greet people around you. You can use the words " Hello/Hi" so that the kids will know that things like this do exists. Is embarrassing when your kids walk into a gathering and look at people  without saying a word.

    10. Don't Be A Time Waster:  Don't let your kids see you doing nothing all the time. Always be productive with your time. Engage them in some crafty work or any  other activity you know they love doing. In this way they will eventually learn to appreciate the value of hard work.
